Default Why is reggae not a very popular genre of music on here?

Never see a lot of questions relating to Reggae music/lyrics.
Ok,so what is it that people don't like about Reggae music?

People aren't into it anymore. Rather than feeling relaxed and chilled they want to feel crazy, motivated and basically want to scream at the top of their lungs. Although I like rock i can appreciate other genres of music like reggae.Long live Bob Marley!

agreed with the guy above me. bob marley did it and i feel everyone else tries to copy him too much and its all generic **** to me. there are a few reggae bands with their own flair that keep my intrest. ska is the same but outstanding bands such as streetlight manifesto and others keep the genre alive.

There were many awesome Reggae bands before Bob Marley even knew what music is. And there are many more bands that are better than Bob Marley would ever be, and which do not try to copy him.
Also there were great Ska bands before high school kids started playing poppy trendy punk with horns, so if Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish and similar bands keep the genre alive, than Ska died long time ago.
Not that they are bad bands, but they are not Ska bands.

I don't think it is because Reggae is not popular on "here" but that Reggae isn't mainstream music. It just doesn't get the radio coverage it should. If people would take the time to research reggae music, and listen to it, they may find they like it.

'Reggae' (or any of it's denominations) is a world unto it's own, from the days of ska in the 50's to bashment on the clubscene today. It's all a bit overwhelming at first and as magic said not exactly covered by daytime radio... these Trojan box sets are dead cheap and they got me (and countless others not raised on Afro-Caribbean music) started off

I like listening to them. I dont really care if they arent mainstream or whatever XD I enjoy listening to them once in a while. It's different but it fits my style of music fine. =]
