Default Does everyone who listens to Reggae smoke Ganja?

I know probably stereotyping, was just curious as everyone I know who listens to Reggae smokes, so was wondering how many others.

What a strange question - perhaps you thought pot was ingrained into the sound of reggae of something!?

I agree youbetcha1018 while the Rastafarian sect requires enormous quantities of Ganja, and reggae is their music of choice for normal listeners all you need is an open mind and to see if the music reaches you or not.

I think a great deal of people who listen to Bob Marley do it because it gives them an excuse to smoke, but a lot of people who enjoy the music beyond that one Marley song don't feel the need quite so much. That being said, Steel Pulse is way better than Bob Marley.

in the old days of Reggae, i believe that smoking pot and listening to Reggae was a big thing. but now, since Reggae has evolved so much. Nobody listens to it and smokes. I think it's Emo/Screamo music that gets people to want to smoke pot. Everybody i know who smokes listens to that music.

Wow if anyone needs some pot its definately the EMO kids they need to cheer up, die off, or start writing better music IMO. but I think the concept of Rastafari/Reggae music will always be close with Mary Jane, Rastafarians believe it brings you closer to Jah, or God, or whatever you call him/it/thatfeeling. I enjoy sitting with friends, put in a good Marley record (Talking Blues or African Herbsman) and light up always. The jamacians call it IRIE and it means to be completely care-free, letting the music flow through you and inspire you.

it's brought people to believe that there is some sort of god like figure up there, but the lyrics sort of strive away from that at certain times in Reggae

I think that the era of Reggae has definately been able to bring a lot of people together and are able to be care free. its such a good era that has passed us by
