ey, im lookin for some more roots reggae. i have a lot already, but im lookin for some old school stuff that actually has meaning. if not some roots stuff then i'd love to get some more conscious reggae. conscious reggae is the best reggae. hit me up if you can help me out.

What exactly is the root music of reggae?Where did this music originated?When you say reggae music,initially,most people think is Bob Marley.Hope to have exciting facts about this thread.Thanks

Well the internet says a lot.Just want to know everybody's knowledge on this reggae section.It seems like i got a not so smart reply for a start.I do know some facts about the music,but of course there is always something beyond on what is normally fed on us from the internet.Let me just put it this way,can the internet tell you what really happened on JIMI HENDRIX's death?I don't think so.

First, let me tell you Jimi Hendrix is NOT reggae.

He was rock.

Let me tell you what I do know about reggae music. It originated in Jamaica. It manifests its sound on the off-beat, called the skank. Some reggae artists include:

Scratch Perry
Shaggy
Sean Paul
Bob Marley

Did i mention something about jimi hendrix being a reggae?And by the way,he's not a rock.He plays rock,and his music is called psychedelic rock.Im not comparing the reggae music and jimi hendrix,you just did'nt get the logic of the question.And plus,shaggy and sean paul?hahahaha.too weak artist.I bet they cant even define the real meaning of reggae.PEACE!

Bob Marley "invented" reggae if you will, by taking samba music, slowing it down, and charging it with politically active lyrics. Also has deep religious ties with the Rastafari movement in jamacia, and london. the roots of reggae is all about being free act as you feel right, being happy with ones' self, iriee everyday living one love for jah. Reggae to me.
