No, Slipknot, is not even close to emo. Emo is almost broken into 2 sub-genre's. Screaming, heavy emo, and poppy emo.
The lighter, more pop stuff is - Paramore, Three Days Grace (sorta), Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, and Dashboard Confessional.
The heavier stuff is (also known as screamo) - The Used, Silverstein, Funeral For a Friend, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Atreyu.

yeah, mostly that stuff is the annoying screamo that people are actually able to listen to without ripping their ears off. |

Not trying to be rude, but seriously stfu. Atreyu? Emo is a Melodic form of Hardcore that developed in the late 80's with bands like Rites Of Spring and reached it's height of popularity in the early 90's with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Texas Is The Reason. Once again, I'm not trying to be rude, but don't talk about something you know nothing about. |

I still remember myself listening to Rites Of Spring when i got into the emo genre of music. I didn't like it at first. And than some bands combined Screamo and Emo and i guess to a certain extent i like it, but at certain times i dont like it. Sort of like Chiodos, Underoath, and In This Moment (i know they arent emo or screamo but they have a good singer with screaming ability) |
