I know they are considered progressive but there are death influences in it and i feal its a good band to use to get into death metal with, whether they are death metal or not.

Behemoth would fit because they are blackened death metal (first few albums were black metal, but the majority of what they have released is black/death), anyone who says that they are a black metal band needs to listen to more black metal.

also if you like Behemoth check out Arkhon Infaustus and Belphegor.

I love Opeth, because I'm a Power Metal fan, and a more hardcore metal fan (Slipknot, MudVayne) and it combines the two.

I can stand some Behemoth, but some of that stuff just isn't me.

Behemoth sure has their moments but they could use some work. Amon Amarth on the other hand has some good music. They aren't Death Metal, but they are very hard metal which i love.

Opeth is progressive mixed with death, not power metal like iced earth and such.

Aman amarth are melodic death.

that said some people call them viking metal, but that isnt really accurate because it is only based off of lyrical content, as opposed to the music, and would be like calling slayer antichristian metal.
