Thread: White Stripes

    Default White Stripes

just noticed we didn't have a thread for these guys either. the white stripes are a fairly new band, they formed in 1997, members are Jack White, and his wife Meg White. Jack does guitar, vocals and various other instruments and Meg plays the drums. I don't think that they have an album that I don't like, maybe some that I like more than others though

I'm glad to see you wrote a thread for these guys Cowboy. I know Slayer likes them I have heard a few of their songs, but really didn't get too excited. List their albums in chronological order and highlight the ones you like best, unless you are still tired from swinging your sledgehammer of course...lol.

    White Stripes [self titled](1999)
    De Stijl (2000)
    White Blood Cells (2001)
    Elephant (2003)
    Get Behind Me Satan (2005)
    Icky Thump (2007)

I think my favorite albums are Elephant, White Blood Cells, Get Behind Me Satan, and Icky thump. I like their most recent one the best because it has a great folk/blues feel to it. I'm downloading their disco in flac right now if you want some albums when it's done.

I have Elephant, but haven't had time to listen to it yet. I'll let you know later if I want some HQ files from you.

elephant was "meh" for me. it's an alright album but doesn't show their full potential, IMO.

I think I will pass on this group. I dont know why, but their sound doesn't appeal to me. Out of the vids you posted, though, Icky Thump wasn't too bad.

I tried to get a broad range or their sound in the videos, the catch hell blues sounds way better on the album version. I was rather displeased but it was the only vid of that song I could find. if you liked icky thump, you should at least give their album a try, I think it is their most consistent so far.
