I saw this band perform live for the second time last night, at a small club here. I was going to post a little review of the show in my 2009 Summer Concert thread, but Cowboy tells me we need more band threads. So, I’m giving HURT their own thread!
Formed in Virginia in 2000, but now living in Los Angles the band HURT is labeled at wiki as Alternative Metal. The most interesting part of this band (to me) is the front man, J. Loren Wince. At an early age he studied to be a classical violinist. He’s the talent of this band. He’s the songwriter, the frontman who performs and always connects to his audience. He uses a dual mic setup for some of the songs, and plays the violin, and guitar. The music evokes emotion, and rocks at the same time. They are an amazing band to see, hear (and feel) live.
The show last night had a really small turn out. There were only a couple of hundred people there (Monday night was to blame), and new this time was a mini-acoustic set they added on to the end of the show. They also came back out after the set ended and hung around talking to everyone. Great band, and extremely underrated. They were actually dropped by their record label (Capital) in 2008. On April 7, 2009 Hurt released
Goodbye To The Machine, on the independent Amusement record label.
