Hey guys I'm new!
Now I'm sort of a classic rock, funk rock fan at heart.
But I also like a few modern rock groups like Switchfoot - they were the first band I ever got into.
I just wanted to get some thoughts on this new single -

Hey Ive never listened to these guys before.
I really liked what they were doing in that song. Got my attention. I am going to check out more .
Thanks, that was great
My experience was tainted this time by some real morons. They were some trailer trash drunks there and when they were doing their real soft ballad segment with songs like "Dare You to Move" it got soured by them yelling at the top of their lungs "YEAH you Mother_______ over and over at the top of their lungs. You could tell they didn't even know the band and they had no appreciation for anything! The first time I saw them Switchfoot was headling and had a real cool stage setup. This time they were band number 2 of 3 and the performances were even better!![]()
Listened to some more and even though its pop rock and targeting mainstream, there are a lot of great hooks for me and I like the chorus vocals and guitars together. Good sound.
Seems to be something in every song thats unique and unexpected. I like that.
Remind me of three days grace

I first heard these guys when I was at my school's leadership camp. "Dare You To Move" is one of the songs they played at the end slideshow and I loved it. I'm now listening to this new song and it's very different from "Dare You To Move" but I'm liking it a lot.
These guys are good. Check out Oh! Gravity, it's a pretty cool song.
I'm new too, I prefer cold play, more like pop rock
I got hooked onto these guys when I heard "Meant To Live" on my local radio station. I really enjoyed the album "Nothing Is Sound". I haven't around to listening to anything after that, but I'll give it a shot sooner or later!
I think this thread needs actually songs since Switchfoot actually has a big catalog of songs and there is no other Switchfoot threads! Plus, since they were the last of three bands I've seen they're music is fresher in my head now!
Breakthrough songs:
"Meant to Live"
"Dare You to Move" (beautiful song)
"This Is Your Life" (Great lyrics)
yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
yesterday is a promise that you've broken
don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes
this is your life and today is all you've got now
yeah, and today is all you'll ever have
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose
yesterday is a kid in the corner
yesterday is dead and over
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
this is your life are you who you want to be
this is your life are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose
and you had everything to lose
"Sooner or Later"
I've never listened to this band before. I will check them out.
It's me again, the topic creator.
Here's a link to a trailer for thier new album which comes out NOV 10.
Here's an accoustic performance of a cool new song called Free.
I haven't been this stoked for an album since "Stadium Acadium" (Red Hot Chili Peppers).
Here's very brief rundown of the most recent albums in the Switchfoot discography:
___
The Beautiful Letdown - Major label debut and thier most instantly catchy album, with 4 sucessful singles including Meant to Live and Dare You To Move.
This album went double plat.
___
Nothing is Sound - a much more mature, complex followup to thier previous album. Some people were dissapointed with the less catchy sound but those who gave it a change found this to be a true pop masterpiece. Lead singles: Stars, We are One Tonight.
____
Oh! Gravity - Bright, experimetal, catchy. This one is a grower - hated it upon my first listen but it's become my favorite album by the band as of now.
Lead Singles: Oh! Gravity. Awakening.
Here's a performance of Dirty Second Hands - a very unique song on the album.
