a friend and i might end up performing the sam and dave/blues brothers song "soul man" and we'd need to put together a live band. what we need is key instruments (including brass) for the song. We've got piano, guitar, harmonica, and whatever type of brass is in the song. all help is appreciated. also, if you can provide a link to the site with free/cheap sheet music for the various instruments, thatd be great.

The differences -- I don't think there's any way around getting horns in on this one -- you're gonna need something. Sounds like the Sam and Dave version is using primarily saxophones with at least one trumpet in there; the Blues Brothers generally rocked a pretty full horn section. There are some horn tabs you can find at http://www.horntabs.net/tab/do_search?song=&band=140&type=-1 , which should help. And remember, if you're going to be switching stuff around for instruments -- some of the instruments are inherently in a different key, so you'll have to do some transposition. A C on a trumpet, for instance, is a Bb to a guitar or a piano; and a C on an alto sax (if I recall correctly) is an Eb on a guitar or a piano.
