The lounge also helps us get to know our members in a more "creative" way, that way we don't just know what kind of music they're into, we know more about them, which can turn into friendships. So the lounge helps create bonds between posters so that when people come here, everyone is very nice and friendly and not so "in your face" with just music. That's one of the big points as to why we have the lounge here. |
No one said we JUST had to talk about music here.
It's a problem when a music forum has more activity in the lounge than the actual music sections. There are a number of threads in many sections that haven't been answered in weeks but you can always count on like 500 new responses in the lounge.
It's not really that difficult for people to do random searches on bands and make a thread about them. Who cares if it gets 0 responses, at least you went ahead and put some effort into making a thread about a band you would like to share. Someone will eventually come along and answer it.
No one said people can't hang out in the lounge to chill but that shouldn't happen 24/7. There are people here with hundreds of posts and I can honestly say that I don't remember any of their posts being in a thread about music. This isn't to say people need to make 10 threads a day but it doesn't hurt to wander the sections and happily contribute, even if it is just to say you don't really dig the band.
