Default Does God Exist/Do you believe?

The rest of my family believes in god except me and my brother.
    Is it so wrong?
Athiests aren't to be outcasts because they don't believe, are they?
    What about us?
    What are we in for?
Where was god when there was that teacher protecting her students from a school shooting?
She was shot in the face.
    And she died.
    Was this His plan?
    If he's even real,
    his plans suck .
I want to hear you guys about this ..

I'm sick of people thinkin they're outcasts for being atheists. In this day and age, it appears to me you're in the majority. Stop preaching you're beliefs and find a new and rebellious cause. If you're really that interested, there's already a thread relating to this called "Science and Faith"

In fact I find way too many self-proclaimed "enlightened" 14 year olds who have it all figured out and are more than happy to tell me their BS philosophy about religion and why my beliefs are wrong. Not saying you're one of 'em, just in general

.. You can believe what you want,
I would NEVER press religion on ANYONE.

    Red face

I guess the real issue for myself and why people want to believe in something is mainly due to what happens to you after you die. Is it merely as blunt as you simply do not exist anymore, or is there some kind of Spiritual seperation which takes you to another world which you've never seen before?

I guess to understand how Death works, it is perhaps worthwhile how Life is formed & how does the reproductive system begin that process of Life! :-D

I see I missed this discussion, Atrium is right we do have a Science and Faith thread in the World We Live In sub-forum. RoaddebriS is carrying on a one man crusade representing the belief in God, and a few of us have posted about our beliefs as well.

I am not a fatalist, nor am I a blind follower of any religious dogma, I simply keep an open mind about all the possibilities and really the only way we will ever know is to pass through the doorway when this life ends.

That's pretty deep Grendel. Nice choice of words.

My own personal religion? Not-sureism. Been going through a lot of different options looking for something to believe. Now, i'm totally NOT pressing religion on you here, because i hate it too, but isn't being an atheist a little close minded? I'm not Christian either, in fact i'm not anything at all, but i find a curiosity for religion still, and wander down a lot of different paths. it's not wrong to not believe in anything at all, but should you give up on religion completely and say that there is nothing more? i don't believe so.

just my little piece on that.

Well, just listen to what you believe in your heart i suppose.
You aren't your brother, and even if he has some convincing arguments, still keep an open mind to what's out there is all i ask.

Seriously it may take your entire lifetime to come to terms with what you believe in, life has a way of changing your perception of things as you move through it.

I agree with Dream an open mind is a great advantage for anyone to have, it allows you to continually add or change your philosophy until you find what is right for you. It is the most personal thing you will ever find in your life.

    Alright alright.
    I'll keep everything in mind,

I might find a reason to believe ..

no one's pushing you. maybe you're even right after all, but admit it, it's a little bit depressing to think that there's nothign after.

btw-- this is TOTALLY off topic but did you make those images in your signature yourself?
