People always think they weren't innovative because their well known songs aren't innovative (Let it Be, Hey Jude, Yesterday, Help, The Long And Winding Road, Yellow Submarine...), but in fact, they were on of the most innovative band of the 60's.

But I agree with what you all said before : music is a question of taste, not of "quality" or whatever .

I am The Walrus-Same.
Eleanor Rigby-Same. These last were are just pop songs.
Helter Skelter-The Sonics came before and were harder, louder and faster.

I perfectly knew I wouldn't change your mind, but I think the musics I named you were innovative.
If you think that being musically innovative is "creating music nobody could have done before", that means no band have ever been innovative.

I don't think you'll convince MMM about that philosophy K&P, he likes discussing various points of view in minute detail, and enjoys disagreements with other members. I doubt that he will convince monsieur Applenux that the Beatles weren't innovative anyway.

You wouldn't be the first to make that statement, I like Led Zepp, alot, but they were never my favorite band, and it is possible that some fans do get carried away and think they are the greatest band ever. Regardless, they remain the highest selling hard rock band in history and dominated the 70's unlike any other band in the genre, so on that scale they are a historically significant band.
