Thread: Forum Promotion

    Default Forum Promotion

I have this forum called HyperPolls which focuses on polls as well as general forum talk. In the past few months, it has been dead and I'm looking for a way to get it back up again. If you know of any ways to advertise my forum for free, please tell me. It would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you would like to see the site for yourself (and perhaps join ), just ask and i'll post a link (I don't wanna be known as a spammer).

Well first off, don't promote your site on another site.

I'm only saying my side of it though, others will probably be interested.

What is your target audience? Once you know that, you should know what sort of sites they frequent. Once you go there, you can promote your own website to the people it is suited to and it grows in popularity. Have your friends join, and get them to post the link on their facebook/myspace/twitter wherever.

I disagree with the 'not promoting on another site' thing. Promoting your site on another site is inevitable, and I think most site owners will be happy for you to promote on their site if you agree to return the favour and promote theirs on yours. Of course, always check with the site owner beforehand.

Promoting one's site = people from this site will sign up over there which = this forum losing members.

If people want to find other sites, they can find it on their own time, but most forums wont allow promoting for the reason I stated.

I personally don't mind promotions because I may be interested in the place but, yeah, most forums don't allow it because they lose members to the other place.

That isnt necessarily the case. He hasnt said what sort of site he owns, so unless it is primarily a music site I dont see how it would cost this forum members. And if his site can offer things that this site doesnt and vice versa, its beneficial to both sites. If he promotes MF on his site as it starts to grow, people who hadnt heard of this place would look us up... which could therefore increase the membership of this place rather than decrease it

In basic terms, you cannot promote other forums on this forum. So please do not do it.
